Greenland Investment Management

We are a systematic commodity arbitrage manager overseeing assets in excess of USD 1 billion. The firm is led by Founder and CIO Anant Jatia, a seasoned industry veteran with 16 years of systematic investing experience and a Wharton alumnus. Anant previously was a portfolio manager at AQR Capital and co-founder of India's first onshore hedge fund.

We distinguish ourselves through an innovative approach to commodity arbitrage, with an emphasis on geographic arbitrage opportunities. Leveraging proprietary logistics cost data sourced from our affiliated physical commodity trading arm, we combine multi-factor fundamental models and in-house low-latency trading systems to identify and capture location-based arbitrage opportunities effectively.

Our institutional investor base, comprising of global pension funds and endowments, represents the large majority of our assets. We invest significant internal capital alongside our investors to ensure a strong alignment of interests.

History

Greenland Investment Management was founded in 2013 by Anant Jatia as a proprietary trading firm to manage Anant's family capital after he successfully sold his prior fund, Forefront Capital Management, to Edelweiss Financial Services.

After 3 years of successfully delivering consistent high yield and low risk performance, in 2016 we launched our first fund, Greenland Global Fund, a systematic global arbitrage fund, to offer the same unique investment opportunity to external investors.

In 2019, we launched our flagship fund, Greenland Global Fund II, a systematic global commodity arbitrage fund. The fund takes a unique approach to commodity arbitrage as a strategy, focusing primarily on geographic arbitrage.

Both funds offer low correlation to all major asset classes and most hedge fund portfolios, serving as effective diversification tools for investors. We continue to invest significant internal capital in the funds alongside our investors to maintain a strong alignment of interests.

In 2022, Greenland Investment Management was licensed as a Qualified Foreign Investor by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) allowing our funds direct access to an expanded set of onshore China commodity markets.

We established a London office in 2022 expanding our presence internationally to better serve our institutional investors. Our primary India base continues to act as an investment advisor to Greenland Investment Management.
